Recommended alternative to an Outlook Data File
Outlook Data Files can corrupt or be accidentally deleted so are not a suitable storage method for your personal emails.
Once you move to Office 365 you should have sufficient space to store all emails in your mailbox.
If you need more space you can request an Outlook Online Archive which is stored on the email server and is regularly backed up. This archive facility is available through Outlook 2013 and Outlook Web access.
